In honor of Earth Week, we decided to make this blog about a few of our favorite green baby companies and products.
The Organic Mattress

We’ll begin our highlights with one of our local favorites- The Organic Mattress in Sudbury, MA. Diane and John have simplified the search for the best in organic mattresses and bedding. Free of dyes, fire retardants and other harmful chemicals, that have been shown to have negative impacts on baby’s health, The Organic Mattress has mattresses that are made up of certified organic cotton, premium eco-wool and 100% natural rubber latex. And since baby spends most of the first two years sleeping, you can feel good about purchasing only the best bedding at The Organic Mattress….you may even end up wanting one for yourself, too.
Little Twig
Little Twig is one of our favorite natural baby bath and body care lines. All of their products are made of natural, organic ingredients, which means they are free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, artificial fragrances, and they are packaged in recyclable PET bottles. Little Twig is also very environmentally conscious; they promote the reuse of their highly recyclable bottles by requesting the return of four full-sized, empty containers to the company and in exchange they give you 30% off of your next online purchase. How very green!
Green to Grow
One of our favorite bottle options is from Green to Grow, a company that created an entire line of award winning, bisphenol-A free bottles. Found in polycarbonate plastic, bisphenol-A (aka BPA) is a known hormone disruptor and a neurological, developmental, and reproductive toxicant. And their being green doesn’t end there- they also run a green business model. In their words, “We use 100% recycled paper and soy inks in all of our packaging and printed corporate materials and have partnered with 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of our annual sales to environmental causes. We have also founded the Bottles to Babies Initiative, using our web site as a vehicle to connect families who are no longer using their baby bottles with local non-profit organizations and women’s shelters that accept used baby bottle donations.” Love that!
Fleurville
Fleurville is a fantastic company that designs modern, environmentally friendly, and unbelievably adorable diaper bags. As a San Francisco Bay Area Green company, not only does Fleurville produce environmentally friendly products, but they use "green" business practices. They are one of the first of its kind companies to be polyvinyl chloride (or PVC) free.
bumGenius by Cotton Babies
bumGenius is “cloth diapering made easy.” This is not your mother’s cloth diapering solution. Available in a variety of styles and colors - from the ultra-customizable one-size cloth diaper, to the incredibly simple all-in-one, or the super-soft bamboo fitted, these cloth diapers allow you to choose what works for you…and it doesn’t hurt that they’re adorable too. If you’re thinking about choosing cloth diapering over disposable diapers, for environmental and economical reasons then bumGenius cloth diapers are a fantastic choice.
These are just a few examples of our favorite environmentally-friendly baby companies and products but there are many more that are helping to make baby’s world a healthier and safer one. Perfecting Expecting is proud to be able to contribute to making you, your home, and your baby, nice and green.
Happy Earth Week!
