A Gift for Mom

flowers

Flowers, candy, bathrobes or slippers, a nice dinner…while we do love all of these things, we also know that the gift of time and relaxation can be priceless.

In honor of all the moms and moms-to-be out there, Perfecting Expecting is offering 10% off all services for Mother’s Day. Skip the flowers this year and spoil your mom-to-be with something she’ll really need ~ registry help, nursery design, stocking the nursery, birth announcements…We can take care of all of that and more.

Buy a gift certificate, or book a service with Kristen and Sandee during the week of May 7th through the 11th and receive this special Mother’s Day discount. Dads, I think this might just save you from having to give a foot massage…okay, maybe not.

Happy Mom’s Day to All!

One Call Tells Them All

Phone The labor is over (finally), the wife is relaxing (hopefully), and the baby is even more beautiful than you could have imagined (obviously). Now, it’s time to spread the news!

The list of people to call in these precious moments can be daunting. The last thing you might feel like doing is picking up the phone 35 times to answer the same set of questions. "It’s a boy! Yes, mom is doing great. 7 pounds 6 ounces…"

Imagine this ~ with one phone call you can record your personalized birth message (have big brother or sister do it - how cute!) and send it to a pre-set list of phone numbers. Everyone on your list receives a phone call and voice-email that plays your message.

Our friends at SnappyBaby want you to be able to enjoy those first few hours with your new baby AND be able to let everyone know the good news.

Feeling Wired

Today’s Boston Globe featured a very interesting article that made us go…”hmmmm!”

The article talked about mothers who use the Internet while caring for a baby at home. One woman, after figuring out how to hold her infant while emailing, dubbed it, “a computer position.” Another mom figured out how to type with her left hand so that she could nurse simultaneously.

In a world of instant access, blogging, social connectivity online, and pure entertainment through computers - how much is too much? Will mothers lose a connection with their baby at the sake of surfing the net? We aren’t sure how you feel, but we love talking to moms-to-be about their thoughts on these situations.

Work It, Mom!

Have you checked out Work It, Mom!?

Perfecting Expecting is proud to be featured in this online community and resource for working moms. Whether you work outside the home, at home, or run your own business, this site is a wealth of useful information. You are able to connect with other working moms and share advice, read and publish your own articles, join groups based on your location, interests, or career, and read a great selection of blogs on everything from life as a freelancer to putting together a work wardrobe, to organic cleaning supplies.

As babyplanners, we spend a lot of time with moms-to-be who work. We highly recommend this site to them, and to you!

Say ‘Cheese’

If you are expecting a baby, you may have seen your baby’s first photo already. It probably looks like a gummy bear, a bean, or perhaps a little white shape among black and grey matter. For some, this is just enough to last them until they see their newborn and hold them for the first time. For others, we know that they just want to see more, more, and more of that sweet face before their due date.

It’s in the Bag

Diaper_baby_tall_lgMoms know that a diaper bag is truly an extension of oneself…a catch-all for supplies, a carrier of all things cute, and…a fabulous accessory if we do say so ourselves!

Our new friend Helena at www.elenibags.com has perfected the diaper bag. Best of all, YOU get to design it to suit your style to a tee. On her website are oodles of high-quality and gorgeous fabrics. Like bright blue and yellow? Done. More of a toile mom? Have at it. You just can’t go wrong with all of the possible combinations.

The bags have elastic pockets on the inside, pockets on the outside, a removable third strap, interior swivel hooks, is machine washable, and has definitely become one of our Perfecting Expecting Picks!
